Harrison has decided he likes to eat whole apples now. Thinking we may go to the apple orchard tomorrow. Should be a beautiful day for it!

Still loves cars. We went to his preschool open house last night. He’s so excited to be in the 4 year old room. He has been so good with Tobias, very sweet. He calls him his cutie, and just about can’t keep his hands off of him.

was awake for probably close to an hour this morning. Sleeping soundly now. He’s starting to fill out some, too. He’ll be 4 weeks tomorrow, which is his original due date!

We had a surprise on Saturday morning when my water broke at about 2:30. I was 4 weeks early. We still didn’t know if the baby had turned or not, so they did an ultrasound when we got there. We had to do a c-section. Baby Tobias arrived on August 7th at 6:13 am. He weighed 6 lbs 15 oz and was 19 inches long.

I’ve had kind of a rough recovery, but am feeling better today and we should be able to go home tomorrow.

Harrison is such a proud big brother! He whispered in Tobias’ ear today: "Hi baby Toby. My name is Harrison. I’m your big brother!". Too cute!

This little one makes us crack up on a daily basis.

I have 5 weeks left until we meet Baby Gubser! Doing good. Feeling the heat of summer, but we’re almost there. My doctor’s appointment this morning went well, so that was good news. Can’t wait!!

Oh, right. That would be me.

We’re doing pretty good. I’m still sick most days, but knowing it’s getting down to the end is making it easier. I am getting more uncomfortable, especially in this heat, but again, I’m trying to take it one day at a time. I think the hardest aspect has been trying to keep Harrison occupied on these hot days (Wednesday the heat index was 119!), when all I really want to do is sleep. He’s been a trooper. A friend of mine took him to the water fountain by the river on Tuesday and he had a blast with her boys. They have triplets who were born just a few months before Harrison was. They had such a good time, and it was so nice to have a break.

Other than that, we’re just trying to get some things done to the nursery and house before the new arrival!

I am 29 weeks, with less than 11 to go now. We’re getting excited. It’s funny, though, how the second time around we haven’t been quite as anxious in getting things ready. We have the basics, so we should be set. Just need to get a few things, but we’re not really in any hurry. And the other day I thought, “I should probably look into doing an “update” birthing class.” I didn’t have to do any labor last time since Harrison was breach and we had to do a c-section, so that’s probably the thing I’m most anxious about. I’m hoping we won’t have to do a c-section again so the recovery is a little easier.

And Harrison is still excited, too. He is very sweet when I’m not feeling well, either. He’ll come up to me and pat my back, saying, “I’m sorry you’re not feeling well, mommy.” He has a great example in Kelly, who has been helping me a lot since I’m still feeling sick most days, and starting to really feel pregnant, especially in this heat. Yuck.

I’m sure the next 11 weeks will go quickly…hoping so, anyway.

Well, kind of. I just realized it’s been almost a month since I
posted anything. . We have been doing a lot of sprinklers, kiddie
pools on the driveway, parks, feeding the ducks and bike riding.
Yesterday we went to the fountain on the riverfront and had fun
playing there. And after doing those things, we come inside so mommy
can rest. .

We’ve had lots of rain, and more storms coming today and this
weekend. Overall, it’s not been too bad heat-wise…yet, anyway.

Kelly gave Harrison a flat-top haircut not too long ago. He looks
like he’s about 6 years old somedays. He is looking forward to
meeting the baby and is taking his big brother responsibilities
seriously these days. He has been saving some toys for him and asks
about him a lot.

He is always saying something funny. Yesterday I asked him to do
something and his reply was "I can handle that job!" in a very serious
tone. It’s so fun to see him grow up and do new things all the time.

Pregnancy is going good. I’ll be 29 weeks tomorrow. We have another
ultrasound on Monday.

After the appointment we went to lunch, then went to the mall (my doctor is in Iowa City).  We had a fun day.

On the way back into town, Harrison says “Look!  We’re in Muscatine!  Why are we in Muscatine?”

Me: “Well, this is where we live, and we’re going home.”

H: “Yep!  We live in Muscatine.  Muscatine is where we hang our hats!”

Kelly and I looked at each other and just started laughing…not sure where he got that, but he picked it up somewhere.  :)
