Preschool!
Yes, Harrison started preschool today! We debated back and forth, but decided that he was ready and he was so excited! He will go two mornings a week, and he had a great day this morning. Here are some pictures.
Before we left, with his new Lightning backpack. What other backpack would he have??
Walking to preschool
I asked him to stand by the sign so I could get a picture, and he saw the H in the name and wanted to point to it because that’s what his name starts with.
And what else would he play with??
And with the wave of his hand and a quick “bye”, we were off. He did great. I prayed all morning that he wouldn’t hit anyone, pee his pants because “I don’t NEED to go potty, mom”, or clinch his fists and scream “mine” if someone took a truck that he was playing with; all things he has done.
As far as I know, he didn’t.
We left after he got done to go on a mini-vacation until Friday. We had a small window of time that we could come up to the Dells this fall, and it means Harrison having to miss his second day of preschool. It wasn’t bothering me too much until today when we dropped him off the teacher said he would be bringing home the snack tote to fill up for Thursday. Since his birthday was in August, he would be the first one to bring treats.
Ummm…yeah…Harrison won’t be here on Thursday. Because we’re going on vacation. On the second day of preschool. I’m really sorry.
I know in the scheme of things, it will be fine. But it made me feel horrible. I guess part of it is because I am a brown-noser. Just ask my former teachers. I used to make them cookies and pumpkin bread for Christmas. Even my high school teachers. I would go to their softball games. Ask my dad. He always used to make fun of me for being a brown-noser. I wasn’t an annoying brown-noser (I hope). Not to my teachers, anyway. I probably bugged the heck out of the other students. I just wanted to make a good impression. And I guess that is carrying over into Harrison’s school experience. I should probably get over it. Kelly keeps telling me to get over it.
I will.
But guess what Harrison’s teachers will be getting for Christmas.

I think you staying close with Harrison’s teachers during his school experience is a positive in his favor. I am sure the teachers will appreciate your baking treats too. Think about how many parents never even say thank you or acknowledge in any way all the hard work they do?
Teddy’s birthday has been on the first day of school, two years in a row now. This year, guess what I did? Took him to the Hostess store and bought 4 boxes of Moonpies for him to pass out. Grin. The teacher seemed pleased there was sugar to pass out to her students on the very first day of class. Teddy was glad for the break from her “hour ” long speech on how much she loves kids and that is why she is a teacher. Hope you enjoyed your trip to the Dells!

Kelly is looking great. Harrison is so precious with his big boy backpack on!
Don’t they just grow instantly with a backpack on?! I can’t believe he is struggling with truancy already though?!
Have a fun trip!
