I’ve had some trying days lately…nothing big, just normal 2 1/2 year old issues, I’m sure.  But trying, nonetheless.  Harrison is such an intense kid, I think sometimes it is a little more than just the normal.

But he is very sweet, too.  Like today, while trying to get him to sleep (he hasn’t napped in two days…I really dislike this time change stuff) he scratched my face.  But he immediately wanted to kiss it and said sorry.  It is exhausting sometimes.

Add on top of that the overwhelmingness of a house that needs much attention, and a mile long to-do list, and some other stuff on my mind…I’m not in a real good spot.

So what am I doing?  I’m leaving.  :)   My good friend Sara and I are going to the Hearts-At-Home conference tomorrow.  We’re leaving tonight and will be back tomorrow night.  Not long, but a nice break.  And I am hoping to be in a workshop with a favorite author of mine, Julie Barnhill.  I have read two of her books and I love her personality and writing style.  Her workshop is called She’s Gonna Blow: Real Help for Moms Dealing with Anger…hmmm…just in time I think.

Kelly will be in charge.  He always does such a good job with Harrison.  He’s a great dad, and I love him so much.  He’s a great husband, too.  :)   He knows when I need a break, and doesn’t mind that I’m leaving when the house is a pit.

Anywho…we gave Harrison a haircut the other day.  We just did it with scissors and he did great.  He screamed every other time, and it must have been from the clippers.  So from now on, we’ll be doing scissors I think.  It’s not perfect, and I’m sure to the trained eye it looks bad, but it was free.  :)   It’s laying really bad here, too, because he didn’t get a bath this morning.

  1. as my mom always says, “this too shall pass,” and strangely enough, you’ll miss it. i love seeing how my kids grow and change, but i already miss the 2 yearold stage of complete inhibition (both good and bad) and rampant curiosity.

  2. You’re not alone. Tate is such a little stinker these days too! It is so exhausting sometimes…I know how you feel. Harrison is SO CUTE! He looks just like you!
