In the grand scheme of things…

these are not big deals, but frustrating, none the less.

Our stove broke tonight.  It did the same thing several months ago and Kelly was able to fix it, but it started going beserk again tonight and nothing could be done.  And the parts would be in the $300 range.  So, we need a new stove.  We may have found a used one already on Craig’s List that looks really nice, so that’s good, and it’s the same price as the parts would be.  We’re going up to the Cedar Rapids area tomorrow evening to look at it.  This will be appliance #3 (dishwasher, built-in microwave, and stove) that we’ve had to replace since we moved in 2 years ago.  #4 if you count the disposal.  Just SLIGHTLY frustrating, especially when we know the previous owners knew about the disposal and the dishwasher.  I am getting a white stove, and that way when the refrigerator goes out in a few months, we can get a new white one!  (slight sarcasm there)  :)

And I have had three packages sent to me recently that have not been delivered!  One was from Amazon and it shows delivered today, but I cannot find it anywhere.  They have all been through the post office, so I’m not sure what’s going on, but I am going to do some digging.  I hope they can be found, because I’m not sure what the next step would be if they aren’t.  :(

Ok, done.  Just had to vent a little bit…

  1. Amy – not sure if you have any interest in it, but we have American Home Shield and have had nothing but a 100% positive experience with it – they have replaced our A/C unit ($3,000!), sump pump, fixed our furnace, and now our dryer and gave us the option to fix our stove or give us a $300 credit towards a new one (the cost of the repair to them).

You may have already had too many things replaced or fixed in your home, but I can’t say enough good things about it! It has saved us a TON of money.

It also covers things like pipes, ductwork, electrical problems and things like that.

It might be worth checking out!!!

(especially since like us, you know the people that lived in your house prior weren’t very honest and didn’t take the best care of things!)

  2. Hey Amy just checking in to see if things are looking brighter. Hoping they are. When David was deployed summer of 2007 both a/c units on our house died. $10,000 later and one empty investment fund….. we are nice and toasty in the winter and cool in the summer. Home ownership isn’t always all it is cracked up to be. When the a/c went out I would have loved to have been able to call the landlord…. Oh yeah that’s me. Anyway I do hope things are looking better for you and that you have found out what is going on with your mail! I would be uber upset over that. But I already have a love hate relationship with my postmaster. :)

Sending some Virginia Love (Virginia is for Lovers is such an odd slogan)
