we’re home

Had a very busy week back in Nebraska.  Had an interesting drive there last Monday- the first time I can remember that we’ve had bad weather traveling back.  Left a day early thinking we would miss the forecasted snow, and ended up running into it about an hour from the NE border.  Several cars in ditches, one truck jumped the median on the interstate, spun and landed right in front of us, facing us.  Very thankful we made it through with no problems.

Got to spend time with my brothers and their families (one I haven’t seen since last Christmas, one I haven’t seen since the year before).  Harrison got to spend time with his cousin Conner, who was born the day before Harrison.  They met two years ago, when they were 4 months old, and haven’t seen each other since.  There were a few moments of “Mine!  Mine!”, but overall they were great.  Many pictures to come.

Had an announcement from my other brother and his wife that they are expecting in July!  Yay!  Congratulations again, Chad and Susan!  I’m already making plans for my birthday gift to involve going down to Georgia for a few days to help out.  :)

Also spent time with Kelly’s family and had a wonderful celebration with them.  We had the big “Gubser” Christmas yesterday, and there had to be 45 people there, with lots of kids running around.  Harrison had a blast with his older cousins.

Overall we had a great break.  Tomorrow it’s back to reality.  I’ve been getting used to having Kelly home (he’s been home almost 3 weeks total since his surgery), but I guess I’ll have to send him back to work tomorrow to support his family.  :)   I truly have enjoyed having him home, and will miss him.  I’m so proud of how well he’s doing with the surgery.  And I just checked my Google Reader (haven’t read a single blog all week) and I have 195 posts waiting for me.  That might take me a while to get through.  At least I did the laundry at my parent’s house before I left.  :)   Nothing better than opening a suitcase when you get home from a week-long trip only to find clean clothes.
