It’s a good thing
Do I sound like Martha Stewart? Ha! Anyway…remember the PlumpyNut post from my friend Jody? Well, they raised money to the tune of $4100!! That is just amazing to me! That will help 91 kids be brought back to life.
And the adoptive parents/foster parents group that she is in is doing another project that you can read about here. They are collecting new pajamas and backpacks for local kids who are going to foster homes, and may not otherwise have something to sleep in, or more than a trash bag to carry their few belongings in. Just something to make them feel a little more comfortable and special in an otherwise scary situation.
I love being a part of things like this. I love that it’s tangible. I love that it is simple. Instead of wondering what we can do, this group is giving us opportunities. (Thanks, Jody, and the rest of your group!) I love that we can come together as a community and serve others in our neighborhood, or half way across the world. Need has no boundaries. Love and service have no boundaries, either.
I am going to challenge my Bible Study tomorrow morning to be a part of this. So if you’re part of my Bible Study…get ready! Let’s see how many kids we can cover in pajamas…and love.
Here’s the pajamas and bag Harrison and I picked out this morning…size 2T…the same that Harrison wears. I couldn’t help but think of this as I was picking them out; thinking that there is a little boy out there somewhere with Harrison’s energy and intensity, his same love and hugs, his same needs.
OK, I got through that without crying up until that last paragraph.
