Desperate?

So Harrison has been REALLY messing with his diaper lately when we put him to bed…I mean like taking the tabs apart, pushing it down, and just messing with it until it gets all bunched up and sometimes rips.  Last night Kelly went in there after he heard him messing with it, and he had it completely off.  Sometimes I go in there and he is pretty much sleeping, but still messing with it.  It wouldn’t be a big deal, but he’s been waking up around 1:00 some nights with a wet bed.  If it doesn’t wake him up in the middle of the night, he is even more wet in the morning.  We have tried many times to get him to stop, but nothing has helped.

Tonight we took a drastic measure…duct tape.  Just one small strip around so he couldn’t get the tabs undone, or push it down.  When we put it on, he was seriously mad at us…maybe more confused as to why he couldn’t find the tabs.  But I haven’t heard any rustling sounds through the monitor, so I think it might be working!  We’ll see how it goes.  :)

  1. That’s funny because when the Brookharts went through that with the boys, Steve suggested Duct Tape! :) Who knew?! Good job!

  2. Would he be able to get one-piece pajamas off as easily? I have Jack in a light weight, knit sleeper now. I think they are a little more difficult to unzip and get off. You’ve probably already tried that.

  3. Does he have a toy or blanket he sleeps with? Both our kids had to have something to play with as they went to sleep. For our daughter it was pacifiers (in her hands) and our son croqueted blankets — he likes the string. Maybe you could substitute something for the diaper tabs he likes playing with. Some new toys have fabric tabs built onto them. Good luck!
