The cat saga continues
Last night before bed we knew the cat was still in the van engine somewhere. We put the van in the garage and opened the hood and left it open all night. This morning when Kelly left he kept the garage door open so it could leave. When I was getting ready to leave, I didn’t see it nor hear it in the engine (it normally started meowing right away, so I guess I figured it was safe). I went to the Quad Cities to run some errands and everything was fine.
When we got home, I checked the garage and I heard it meowing, so I knew it was in the garage somewhere. I put some bread, milk and water in a crate that we had thinking it would go in there. I soon found it up on a shelf behind some boards where I couldn’t reach it. When Kelly got home he wrestled with it a little and got it in the crate and I was planning on taking it to the Humanes Society tomorrow. It is a very little scrawny kitty…I felt really bad for it and I’m glad it didn’t get hurt. Kelly’s dad, who owns a service station, said he has seen worse outcomes from cats getting into engines.
Here’s where it gets good (and I really can laugh about it now
). After Kelly got done mowing tonight, he comes in and asks for my van keys. I ask why. He hesitates. I ask why again. He says, “Well, I wanted to check out the cat, so I opened the carrier and it got out. It proceeded out the garage door and back up into the van engine.” I look at him for a few seconds…”Oh.” I’m sure Kelly would say my reaction was more of a “WHAT!” And then an “AAARRRGGGHHH”.
So, anyway, the van is back in the garage with the hood up, and the carrier is currently empty again. I really hope it comes out tonight. I just have too much going on over the next 3 days to worry that every time I turn on my van, it will be the demise of this sweet little kitty that just wanted a warm place to sleep. And frankly, I don’t want a car bill, either.
Good night.

I’m sorry, but I did laugh as I read the end of the story. I do hope it comes out of the van overnight. When I was a kid, a cat rode a half an hour in my mom’s car before someone in town told her they could see it.
are you KIDDING me?!?! oh kelly…
My words exactly, Cassie!
