Awesome Monday
We started out around 11am for Mt. Vernon. We had heard it was a cool little town and that there were some neat shops downtown.
We arrived and discovered that it was a cool little town, but only about a block of downtown. So, I convinced Amy we should drive on to Cedar Falls up by Waterloo (another hour away). The weather was beautiful and it would be fun.
This rattled her master plan for the day a bit, but she agreed.
Although it was just over an hour further, it took us about three to get there. We decided to stop in Waterloo to eat at Olive Garden only after feeding Harry. We did not bring any frozen milk, so Amy nursed him in the van in a secluded corner of the parking lot.
After that we went in and ate. It was about 2pm by this time. Two trips to the changing station later, and after our fill of pasta, we were on to Cedar Falls another 10 minutes away. By now it was after 3p.
When we saw the downtown area, we thought it would be worth a look around. So we abandoned hopes of being back to Muscatine in time to meet with our Monday night group of friends. (Sorry guys)
It is really a cool little spot. Here Amy and Harrison are enjoying the walking around. Lots of little shops of a bit upscale nature, but lots of neat stuff you don’t see all of the time. It was no Galena by any means, but a cool little town nonetheless.
We finally got home about 9pm. But a fun day was had by all.

It seems like a cool town. We did not see the historical stuff along the river until we were on our way home. We’d probably go back some day.
paul and i used to live a few blocks from main street in cedar falls!
